Recruitment process

How the process works for HQ/Hubs positions

This is the first step of the process: please read carefully the requirements for the position and apply if your profile fits the needed competencies and experience. Previous international experience is often highly recommended.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview. However, we may decide to keep your profile and contact you later to start a recruitment process for another opportunity. In any case, we always try to send feedback in a timely manner, although due to the large number of applicants, it may take some time.

INTERSOS, as a humanitarian organization, often works with high urgency and tight deadlines: therefore, the selection may be closed before the official expiration date of the position.

The first interview aims to assess the candidates’ adherence to the INTERSOS set of competencies, with a particular focus on key soft skills for each specific position.

The HR interview is always online, and in video mode: remember to make sure to be in a sufficiently comfortable and quiet place.

The technical assessment is done upon a positive outcome of the first HR interview. It includes a test and/or a technical interview, according to the responsibilities of the role. The interview takes place online, whereas technical tests are usually sent in .doc/docx format or using Google form: therefore, ensure to have the Office package. If the outcome of the technical assessment is positive, this allows your profile to be validated and retained for the HR Roster, even if not selected at the end of the process for the specific position. In this case, the candidate will be notified and may be contacted later, for similar positions.

The last interview usually takes place with the line manager or an external consultant to exchange specific information on the challenges related to the role. It can be done online or in person. Some positions may also require an evaluation with a psychologist based on the position’s level of responsibility.

Once the candidate is selected after a successful last interview, we start checking references. The HR contact relating to the most recent assignment and three hierarchical managers is required. The medical checks will also start.

Once the reference check is done, a formal proposal of collaboration and a complete package is sent. The induction and onboarding process can begin.

Medical and vaccination checks are completed. Passport and personal documents are requested to arrange the VISA request and the flight to the assigned duty station. An online induction is organized prior to the deployment, tailored to the position and context of the assignment.

Welcome to INTERSOS!

Some specific conditions are linked to the individual vacancy, but generally these are the conditions applied:
