INTERSOS General Assembly was held on 23 October. Due to the difficult situation linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, the members of the organisation met online. Three new members were presented and unanimously elected also as members of the Board of Directors: Mamadou Ndyaie, Antonio Donini and Federico Colosi.

The new Board of Directors is therefore composed of: Marco Rotelli (President), Alberto Angelici, Roberta Canulla, Federico Colosi, Antonio Donini, Paola Florà, Davide Gallotti, Mamadou Ndyaie. Kostas Moschochoritis (General Manager) is a member by right of the Board of Directors. Nino Sergi and Amedeo Piva participate in the meetings of the Board of Directors as President Emeritus and Founding Member.

Marco Rotelli is INTERSOS President and former Secretary General. He covered numerous field positions that took him to more than 20 countries. Graduate in Political Science with a Master in Diplomacy and International Relations, he collaborates with the United Nations and ICVA NGO Network. He regularly gives lectures and lessons at international universities and think-tanks.

Alberto Maria Angelici is a surgeon and associate professor and researcher at La Sapienza University in Rome. He has carried out numerous activities in developing countries, also collaborating with INTERSOS through surgical training courses for Somali surgeons at the Jowhar Hospital, Somalia, as part of the training course in ‘Tropical Surgery’, in collaboration with La Sapienza University.

Roberta Canulla, graduated in Political Science and with a Master’s degree in Law, Economics and Community Policies, has been involved in humanitarian crises since 1992. She has worked with the European Commission (ECHO), NGOs – including INTERSOS – and United Nations agencies, covering various roles both in the field and at headquarters.  She co-directed the T W Welch & Partners international humanitarian and development consultancy agency. She currently works in the area of food security and livelihood protection in humanitarian crises.

Federico Colosi, manager and Director of Communication and Sustainability at Sogin SpA. Always attentive to the dynamics and social needs of the metropolitan city of Rome, Federico is one of the founders of the Association Amici per la Città and Praxis – school of politics and territory – and has supported INTERSOS in addressing migration issues in Italy, since the creation of the A28 Centre in Rome in 2011.

Antonio Donini, Visiting Fellow at the Feinstein International Centre at Tufts University, Research Associate at the Centre on Migration, Institute for International Studies and Development in Geneva. He is also co-founder and member of the International Executive Committee of United against Inhumanity (UAI). Antonio started collaborating with INTERSOS during the organisation’s 20th anniversary.

Paola Florà was Head of Human Resources at INTERSOS. Prior to that she worked as Head of Human Resources at ISCOS, Trade Union Institute for Development Cooperation and as Head of Training at the Information and Entertainment Federation of one of the most representative confederal trade union organisations. She conducted several missions to the field (Brazil, Mozambique, Angola, Tchad, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo, Jordan and Lebanon).

Davide Gallotti is a lawyer and a former university professor of commercial and labour law at Italian and foreign universities. Author of various legal works as well as founder and consultant of important NGOs and non-profit associations.

Mamadou Ndyaie, expert of humanitarian affairs and representative of INTERSOS in Dakar. He served in OFADEC on policy and accountability in forced migration and displacement. Member for 2 years of the Steering Committee who set standards to the creation of HAP (Humanitarian Accountability Partnership) in 2003. Mamadou established the first relations with our organisation during the voluntary repatriation of Mauritanian refugees from Senegal to their country of origin.

Konstantinos Moschochoritis, Director General of INTERSOS, after serving as Secretary General from 2016. Graduate in Electrical Engineering, since 1995 he has been working in the humanitarian field. He has worked as Logistics Manager and Head of Mission in many countries in Africa, Asia and South America.  From 2007 to 2013, he was General Manager of Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Italy.

Nino Sergi, in 1992 was among the founders of INTERSOS, serving as Secretary General, then President until 2015. Graduate in Philosophy, at 23 he completed his first mission in Chad. In 1974, he joined the trade union movement as a member of CISL, and after an experience in the industrial sector, he became involved in immigration and cooperation policies at ISCOS, the Trade Union Institute for Development Cooperation.

Amedeo Piva, in 1992 was among the founders of INTERSOS. He was Director of the department of political and social sciences of Quito’s Catholical University in Ecuador, president of FOCSIV (Federation Of International Christian Voluntary Organizations), Councillor for Social Policies at the Municipality of Rome, social policies responsible at Italian State Railways and President of the regional centre S. ALESSIO-MARGHERITA DI SAVOIA for blind people.

Special thanks to Damaso Feci and Armando Sanguini, former members of the Board, for their great contribution to the organisation. During the meeting, the members also discussed and approved the financial statement for 2019.
