We are deeply concerned by the announcement by the Taliban de facto authorities to ban women from working with NGOs. We expect that this announcement will be reversed, as such a ban would represent an unexpected and unacceptable step backward from what had been expected, and would impede the implementation of critical humanitarian activities, resulting in a reduction of aid provided to the most vulnerable in Afghan society. This could potentially put a further untold number of lives at risk.
