MOSUL NEEDS A HUMANTARIAN PUSH
In the area of Mosul, Iraq, hundreds of thousands of people have abandoned their homes to escape the violence.
INTERSOS’s humanitarian operators were the first to reach the areas liberated by the fighting. What they found was a dramatic situation, both for the level of destruction and for the needs of the population.
The level of psychophysical stress among the displaced is extreme. We are faced with dehydrated, malnourished, traumatized people who need immediate care, starting from the widespread lack of food and water and the absence of medical care. Hospitals and schools are almost in rubble and abandoned.
With the Mobile Teams, our medical staff is located in the evacuation corridors, providing emergency care and life-saving interventions. To help the children, childcare facilities are created in the settlements, providing psycho-social, educational and recreational support for minors. Today, the available resources are not enough to respond to the needs of the displaced persons, whose numbers grow day by day.
IN MOSUL THERE ARE HUMAN LIVES TO BE SAVED AND PROTECTED. IT IS TIME FOR A HUMANITARIAN PUSH.

Non possiamo commettere gli errori del 2011 quando in Somalia morirono 260mila persone, fra cui 133mila bambini, perché il mondo non riuscì a rispondere tempestivamente alla carestia che colpì i paesi del Corno d’Africa.Giacomo Franceschini
