Duties and Responsibilities

The Protection Officer will be responsible to coordinate the implementation of activities related to Social Protection in the area of activities. S/he is expected to use a participatory approach to identify needs, design, implement and facilitate activities which develop a sense of community and strengthen community support systems. Awareness building and programming specifically focused on gender-related issues and children are emphasized as well as the needs of vulnerable groups in order to ensure that all refugees have equal access to protection and participation in the delivery of services and in community life in the camp setting. The Protection Officer will be responsible to assess the needs of vulnerable groups, design and establish community-based support activities, identify culturally appropriate resources and solutions, develop follow-up mechanisms, with attention to the psycho-social aspects and to the identification and treatment of trauma and other vulnerabilities

 

 

Job Requirements:

 

 

Skills and experience

    • Master’s degree in law, political science, international relations or other relevant fields; a first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience maybe accepted in lieu of the advance university degree;
    • At least three years of relevant professional experience with an international organizations in humanitarian programmes;
    • Experience in post emergency and post recovery programmes;
    • Experience in legal protection and assistance, and community-based programmes;
    • Experience of remote management;
    • Demonstrated skills in teambuilding;
    • Demonstrated direct programme management and supervisory skills;
    • Ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity;
    • Ability to work to tight deadlines, with minimal supervision; ability to work under-pressure and to respect deadlines;
    • Proficiency in English; Arabic will be an asset;
