INTERSOS was present in Nicaragua from 1998 to 2001.

INTERSOS' work in Nicaragua initially centered on assisting survivors of Hurricane Mitch in the most remote area of the northWest of the country. Later, INTERSOS implemented an important food security programme to support the cooperatives of the campesinos often hit by natural disasters.
