Intersos e la Commissione Europea hanno intrapreso le attività per la realizzazione di un nuovo sistema di fornitura idrica nel distretto di Pashtun Kot nella provincia del Faryab

Il progetto si basa sull'ampliamento di tre sorgenti d'acqua con lo scopo di contribuire alla distribuzione d'acqua non nociva per la popolazione rurale in Afghanistan nei seguenti villaggi: Burek Darà, Galmuria Mirka, Galmuria Tut Bagla, Safida, Kohaq.
Questi villaggi sono stati seriamente colpiti per anni dalla siccità e dalla conseguente situazione socio economia e dalle precarie condizioni di vita.

Il progetto si basa sulla realizzazione di tre condotti Bedakalasar, Galmuira e Induiak che raggiungeranno 1400 famiglie che equivale all'incirca a 8400 beneficiari diretti. I lavori saranno completati entro un anno.

Accanto alla realizzazione dei condotti idrici, il progetto porterà avanti attività rivolte a permettere la sostenibilità dell'intervento con una particolare attenzione alla costituzione dei Comitati per la gestione dell'acqua. I comitati possono essere incaricati della manutenzione dei sistemi di fornitura d'acqua, salute ed igiene e gestione dell'acqua in coordinamento con il dipartimento di Faryab del Ministero per il risanamento agricolo e lo sviluppo e con gli altri comitati per la gestione idrica.

Altre attività sono concentrate nella formazione per la gestione tecnica della fornitura d'acqua e nello sviluppo dell'area.
Il progetto sarà gestito dalla sede Intersos di Maimana con il supporto tecnico dell'unità organizzativa per l'acqua.

The project, based on the improvement of three springs, aims at contributing to the general efforts of providing safe water to the rural population of Afghanistan in the following villages: Burek Dara', Galmuria Mirqa, Galmuria Tut Bagla, Safida, Kohaq.. These villages have badly been affected by years of drought and through consequent degradation of the socio-economic situation and general living conditions

The project is based on the realization of three pipelines Bedakalanasar, Galmuira and Induiak reaching 1,400 families equal to almost 8,400 direct beneficiaries and it is expected to be completed in one year.

Beside the realization of the mentioned pipelines, the project foresees activities meant to empower the sustainability of the intervention with a particular focus on the establishment of Water Management Committees (both at village and at system level), which will be in charge of the maintenance of the water supply system, Health and Hygiene, and water management, coordination with Faryab branch of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development and with the other Water Management Committees.

Other activities are concentrated on the training of technical aspects for the maintenance of the water supply system and sanitation facilities and the capacity building of RRD Faryab.

The project will be managed by INTERSOS office in Maimana, Faryab Province with the technical support of the Organization's Water Unit.
