Background

INTERSOS in now implementing in the area several humanitarian projects in partnership with ECHO, UNHCR, UNICEF and EC. Intersos' intervention deals with IDP Camps Management, Hygiene, Water & Sanitation, Education and Profiling in favour of the Sudanese population in a wide area of interventions where the mobility conditions are often difficult and uncomfortable.

The Khartoum Office is our headquarters in the country, where most of the institutional activities and meetings with Donors and official counterparts take place

The El-Jeneina Sub Office coordinates all the activities of the area between El-Jeneina, Habila and Wali Sadi.

Duties and Responsibilities

She/he shall be the representative of the Organisation in the region of West Darfur responds of her/his activities to the Head of Mission based in Khartoum.

She/he shall keep and improve the relationship with all the institutional stakeholders.

She / he will foster and develop a strategic action plan by monitoring the context, identifying new areas of intervention, elaborating new project proposals.

She / he will coordinate the presence of INTERSOS in west Darfur from a political, managerial, organizational point of view also through an overall monitoring and evaluation of the ongoing projects with frequent field missions.

She / he shall manage the human resources in the area – both expatriate and local personnel – supervising in particular the job of the Project Managers and the Operators on the field and managing financial resources in coordination with the administrator.

Job Requirements:


Experience

At least 1 year experience as Coordinator, preferably in Sudan or in the region.

Skills

Languages

A good knowledge of spoken and written English is necessary.
Basic Knowledge of Arabic or Italian will be considered a plus.


Communication

He /she should be a team player with excellent relational and communicational skills (oral and written).

Management

Proven capabilities of personnel management and financial resources management in multicultural and complex environments.

Other

Other necessary skills are: comfortable with computer use, leadership attitude; problem solving and strategic planning capabilities. Availability to move often through the Area of competence.
